Field hockey downs Siena, 3-2, in overtime

LOUNDONVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 16, 2010) – Senior Caitlin Brown (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) fired her third goal of the season six minutes into overtime to lift Saint Francis University to a Northeast Conference victory over Siena, 3-2, in field hockey action Sunday afternoon.

The goal – which was assisted by Tia Dudukovich (Port Matilda, Pa./State College Area) (Port Matilda, Pa./State College Area) via a penalty corner – snapped a six-game skid for the Red Flash, who improved to 3-11 on the season.

Saint Francis never trailed in the contest after senior forward Rebecca Reiff (Farmingdale, N.J./Wall) (Farmingdale, N.J./Wall) staked the Flash to a 1-0 lead at the 10:14 mark of the first half.  The goal was her team-leading fourth of the season.

The Saints' Mackenzie Smith evened the score less than four minutes later with an unassisted shot.

In the second half, freshman Jocelyn Scillia (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) snapped the 1-1 deadlock with her third score of the season – a one-timer which was assisted by Brown.

Olivia Whelly of Siena tied the game once again with an unassisted goal in the 61st minute, setting the stage for Brown's overtime heroics.

Saint Francis welcomes Quinnipiac on Friday for a 3 p.m. contes
