(Oct. 4, 2009) – Junior Joey Amelia (Chatham, Ontario/Chatham Kent Secondary) (Chatham, Ontario / Chatham Kent Secondary) carded a first-round 37-39-76 to lead the Saint Francis men's golf team to a sixth-place showing after the first round in a 15-team field at the Scotty Duncan Memorial Golf Tournament, which is being hosted by the University Delaware at White Clay Creek Golf Club.
Amelia is in a tie for sixth place in the individual race, while the Red Flash are tied for sixth along with Bucknell. SFU shot a first-round 320 and are 16 shots off the pace.
Delaware leads the event, which will conclude on Monday, with a 304, and is followed by George Washington (307), Rutgers (314), Iona (315) and Lehigh (317). Northeast Conference foes Mount St. Mary's 323) and Monmouth (326) are in eighth and 10th, respectively.
