Bridge, Grossi Shine at Father Bede Hines Invitational

LORETTO, Pa. (April 24, 2010) – The Saint Francis women's track & field team shined at their lone home meet of the season, the Father Bede Hines Invitational on Saturday at the DeGol Field Track.  The meet served as a tune-up for the Red Flash, who will compete at the 2010 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Maryland next weekend. 

 ChristinBridge (Gibsona, Pa./Pine-Richland) got the Red Flash's first victory of the day, taking first in the shot put with a throw of 14.86 meters, qualifying for the ECAC meet.  Teammate Kathryne Kendrick (Armagh, Pa./United) (Armagh, Pa./United) took fifth in the event with a distance of 11.60 meters. 

 Bridge also took second in the discus event with a throw of 38.83 meters.  Kendrick also did well in the event, taking fifth place with a throw of 35.90. 

 Sarah Grossi (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon McMillan) (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon McMillan) picked up another first in the 2000-meter steeplechase in a time of 7:30.40.  Fellow Red Flash Allyson Sheehan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and Hannah Reist (Cleona, Pa./Cedar Crest) (Cleona, Pa./Cedar Crest) took second and third in the race.

 Sarah Harmon (Quantico, Md./James M. Benett) (Quantico, Md./James M Bennet) took second in the 100-meter hurdles for the Flash, finishing in 15.30.  Teammate Jessica Markovitch (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) took fifth with a time of 16.87.

 Rebecca Webster (Lithia, Fla./Newsome) placed eighth in the first track event of the day, the 1500-meter run, with a time of 5:13.49.  CalleyBridges (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) and AnnMarie Potente (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) took tenth and eleventh place, respectively. 

 In the long jump, Alexis Hurd (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) placed third for the Flash with a jump of 5.49 meters, with Fallon Heddings (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) right behind her in fourth with a jump of 4.82 meters.
