Catherine Helming (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) put up two goals, as did
Chelsea Kent (Winter Spring, Fla./Winter Spring) (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs) but the Saint Francis lacrosse team fell 20-5 to in-state rival Robert Morris on Thursday afternoon in Moon Township.
The Red Flash now fall to 6-7 overall and 3-2 in the Northeast Conference. They will host Sacred Heart at DeGol Field on April 9.
The Colonials scored twice to start the game, taking a 2-0 lead just over a minute into action. Stephanie Toomey (East Rochester, N.Y./East Rochester) put the Red Flash on the board with 27:53 to go after causing a turnover. Erin Finnegan then tallied a goal for Robert Morris before Ashley Trombetta added another as the Colonials took a 4-1 lead with 24:29 to go in the first half.
Alana Beck netted to consecutive goals, increasing the SFU deficit to five before Colleen O' Donnell put in another to make the score 7-1 with 17:23 to go in the first half. Tara Southworth then converted on a free-position attempt as the goals kept coming for the Colonials.
Finnegan notched another for Robert Morris off of a pass from Brenna Flynn before
Chelsea Kent (Winter Spring, Fla./Winter Spring) (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs) put in her first of the day with 11:16 remaining in the first half.
The Colonials added in two more to their total before Kent tallied her second of the game with 2:48 left to go in the first. O'Donnell struck back with a goal for the Colonials, putting them ahead by nine as the first half wound down.
It took five and a half minutes for either team t get on the board in the second half, with the Colonials putting up the first two goals of the second half. Finnegan put Robert Morris up by 12 before
Catherine Helming (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) scored SFU's first goal of the second half a minute later.
Lynette Gomez added in two more for Robert Morris, putting the score at 17-4. Beck put her fifth of the game past
Danielle Pokusa (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) before Helming notched her second of the game with just under two minutes to go. The Colonials added in two more as the Red Flash took the 20-5 loss.
Kate Simmons (Delran, N.J./Delran) (Delran, N.J./Delran) picked up a team high four ground balls, while Pokusa had eight stops for the Flash.
Simmons and
Pariss Townsend-Griffin (Silver Spring, Md./Elizabeth Seton) (Silver Spring, Md./Elizabeth Seton) each had an assist.
