STATEN ISLAND, N.J. (April 11, 2010) –
Andres Rosa (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio la Piedad) (Carolina, PR/Colegio la Piedad) and
Peter Dietrich (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Citadel) (Halifax, NS/Citadel) each claimed a singles win and combined for a win at doubles as the Saint Francis men's tennis team dominated fellow Northeast Conference member Wagner 7-0 this weekend in Staten Island.
Rosa and Dietrich defeated Zac Lewis and Scott Scriffignano 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. Rosa then earned a win over Yirmeyah Beckles 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, while Dietrich claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win over Nicholas Apicella in the No. 3 spot.
Steven Child (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster County Day) and Nathaniel Fleming (Gas City, Ind./Mississinewa) defeated the Seahawks Beckles and Taylor Santoro 8-3 at No. 1 double.
Devin Layton (Johnstown, PA/Westmont-Hilltop) and
Kirby Mendes (Unionville, Ontario/Niagara Academy of Tennis) (Unionville, Ont./Niagara Academy of Tennis) completed with sweep with an 8-4 win in the No. 3 spot.
Steve Kowalski (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) took the win at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, over Santoro, while
Youlian Natchev (Sofia, Bulgaria/Rovel College) (Sofia, Bulgaria/Rovel College) defeated Pierre Yuzon 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.
Mendes and Layton also got wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Red Flash will compete in the Northeast Conference Tournament starting April 16.
