BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 16, 2011)
– The Saint Francis University men's soccer team evened its Northeast Conference record at 3-3 by edging St. Francis (N.Y.) 1-0 Sunday afternoon.

“This is a great win and a great weekend for our team,” head coach Michael Casper said. “To get another shutout over a quality team is huge. We showed today that when we play for 90 minutes we will be a tough team to play against. The guys showed tremendous character and I am proud of them. We know we still have a lot of work to do and an important week of preparation as we get ready for next weekend.”

The lone goal of the match came in the 31st minute of the first half when junior Wayne Tiller (Magnolia, Del./Caesar Rodney) put up a shot from 23 yards away on the right side of the field to give the Flash (7-6-1, 3-3) all they would need. Freshman Pablo Medina (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academies) recorded an assist on Tiller's third goal of the season.

Despite being outshot 10-5 and not registering any corner kicks to the Terriers (8-3-1, 3-1) seven, the Flash were able to keep SFC off the scoreboard. Senior Darius Motazed (North Vancouver, Canada/Sentinel Secondary) made six saves to pick up his sixth shutout win of the season.

Saint Francis returns home to square off with Bryant next Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Stokes Soccerplex beginning at 3 p.m.
