WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Oct. 3, 2011) – The Saint Francis University men's golf team completed rounds one and two of the Joe Agee Invitational Monday, hosted by the College of William and Mary, and sit in 12th place in the 13–team field.
The Red Flash compiled a team score of 631 (319-312) through two rounds of play. Saint Francis' 18 birdies places them in the middle of the pack in that respective category. Longwood sits atop the leaderboard with a 578 (291-287). High Point, Towson, Old Dominion and tournament host William and Mary round out the rest of the top-five teams.
After the first round of action, senior
Ryan Coccagna (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) sat in a tie for second place on the individual leaderboard in the 71-player field when he fired a one-under 71. Following a second round 81 however, Coccagna finds himself in a tie for 23
rd with a two-round total of 152.
Two freshmen are next in line for Saint Francis on the individual side of the tournament as
Kevin Fawcett (London, Ontario, Canada/Oakridge Secondary) sits in a tie for 42
nd with a 158 (82-76) and
James Ferguson (Altoona, Pa./Tyrone) is in a tie for 50
th with a two-round 160 (82-78). Senior
Jeremy Foran (London, Ontario/Fanshawe College) carded a 162 (84-78) to place him in a tie for 57
th. Sophomore
Jeff Chastel (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) rounds out the list of Red Flash participants and has a solo hold onto 61
st place with a 164 (84-80).
Austin Gray of Longwood has a three-shot lead over second place after firing a two-under 142 (71-71).
Saint Francis hits the course again tomorrow morning for the third and final round of the Joe Agee Invitational, although heavy rain is expected in the area.
