PRINCETON, N.J. (Mar. 26, 2011) – Princeton stuffed the Saint Francis attack with 11.0 blocks to hand the Red Flash their fourth straight defeat, 3-1 in EIVA Tait men's volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.
SFU hit .299, but the Tigers held an 11-2 blocking advantage and outhit the Red Flash with a .452 hitting percentage.
Junior
John Skarupa (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegehny) and freshman John Beck both came off the bench to lead Saint Francis with 10 kills each, while Skarupa also had two aces and freshman Adam Barba contributed nine kills of the bench. Beck hit at a .533 clip and Barba had a .462 hitting percentage.
“We played a lot of guys today and moved guys around,” said Saint Francis head coach Michael Rumbaugh. “John Beck came in and made a difference by playing well, Michael Krepp played two sets and did a nice job of opening guys up, and Adam Barba also produced for us.”
Krepp had 31 assists and two kills for the Red Flash, and freshman Logan Patterson had nine kills and a block.
Vincent Tuminelli had a match-high 18 kills for the Tigers, while Michael Dye had 14 kills and Jeff Stapleton had 11 kills and 3 blocks.
SFU dropped its fourth straight match to fall to 8-12 overall, and 2-6 in the EIVA Tait. The Red Flash will return to action with a 4:30 p.m. contest against Pfeiffer on Sunday at DeGol Arena.
