PITTSBURGH, Pa. (April 9, 2011) –
Brian Kealey (Southhampton, PA/Archbishop Wood) claimed a pair of wins as the Saint Francis University men's track & field team took part in the 2011 Bennie Benson Memorial Invitational hosted by Robert Morris University on Saturday. The event – which unfolded at the RMU Island Sports Center – was unscored.
Kealey placed first in both the 800m and 1,500m runs with times of 1:57.30 and 4:05.35, respectively. The junior also ran third for SFU's third place 4x400m relay entry, joining
Nick Gibson (Canonsburg, PA /Canon McMillan ),
Lloyd Foster (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) and
Anthony Rusonis (York, Pa./West York Area) to turn in a time of 3:32.33.
Red Flash runners took third and fourth place in the 3,000m run with
Adam Mengel (Monaca, Pa./Center) registering a time of 9:00.34 and Taylor Moore close behind at 9:05.72.
Chris Fischer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona ) closed out the track events with a third place time of 1:00.68 in the 400m hurdles.
Turning to the field side,
Terry Bookhamer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) earned second place finished in the shot put and hammer throw with tosses of 13.87m and 50.54m, respectively. High jumper
Matt Giza (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) placed third on the day with a leap of 1.90m.
