FULL RESULTS
LEWISBURG, Pa. (April 23, 2011) – The Saint Francis University men's track & field team took fifth out of six teams at Saturday's Bucknell Team Challenge. The home-standing Bison won the event, racking up 256 points.
The 4x800m relay team clinched the only Red Flash gold of the day, winning the event with a season-best time of 7:44.85. The foursome was made up of
Lloyd Foster (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic),
Brian Kealey (Southhampton, PA/Archbishop Wood),
Jacob Portock (Souderton, Pa./Souderton ) and
Nick Gibson (Canonsburg, PA /Canon McMillan ).
Gibson also notched a season-best in the 1,500m meter run. His time of 3:58.49 was good enough for third place, overall.
Sean Kirby (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) and
Adam Mengel (Monaca, Pa./Center) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3,000m steeplechase. Kirby ran a 9:43.1, while Mengel finished just behind him with a time of 9:43.4.
In field events,
Terry Bookhamer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) recorded a trio of top-five finishes to round out Red Flash scorers. He placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.43m and ended up fifth in the discus and hammer throws with distances of 41.87m and 49.80, respectively.
Looking ahead, Saint Francis will participate in the Penn Relays starting Thursday in Philadelphia.
