FULL RESULTS

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (May 8, 2011)
– The Saint Francis University men's track & field team finished eighth in the team race at the 2011 Northeast Conference outdoor championships that wrapped on Sunday afternoon. The hosting Monmouth Hawks claimed the team title.

A day after winning the league's 10K crown, junior Chris Mills (Pikesville, Md./Western Tech) came through with another win in the 5,000m run. Mills' time of 14:37.45 highlighted a series of strong outings by the Red Flash distance corps.

Senior Tim Wertner also competed in the 5K, compiling a 10th-place time of 15:38.28.

A trio of SFU runners gave the 3,000m steeplechase a decidedly Loretto-y flavor. Freshman Chris Mills (Pikesville, Md./Western Tech) finished fifth with a time of 9:38.35 while Sean Kirby (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) and Adam Mengel (Monaca, Pa./Center) claimed the eighth and ninth spots, respectively. Kirby ran a 9:43.95 while Mengel was close behind at 9:47.52.

Rounding out Saint Francis top-10 finishers was freshman Nick Gibson (Canonsburg, PA /Canon McMillan ) who completed the 1,500m run in a 10th-place time of 4:04.16.
