Box Score

FAIRFIELD, Conn.
– The Saint Francis University field hockey team dropped its second game of the weekend Sunday falling to Fairfield, 2-1.

The Red Flash (1-4, 0-0) got a first half goal from Jocelyn Scillia (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) but it was not enough against the Stags (4-2), who scored twice in the second half to sneak past the Flash. Jill Dicola earned the start in net for Saint Francis and made four saves with three coming in the first half.

After playing the first 25 minutes even, Saint Francis broke through shortly before halftime. Scillia scored off of a six-yard cross from Kellie Mason (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich). Fairfield responded following halftime with a goal from Marit Westenberg off of an assist from Felicitas Heinen on a breakaway at the 38:19 mark. The two teams played even over the next half hour until Leah Furey scored off a penalty corner with less than two minutes in regulation.

The Red Flash return to action Sept. 17 as they continue their road trip in Hamilton, NY as SFU takes on Colgate.
