LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis University field hockey fell in overtime Saturday on the road at Colgate, 3-2, in overtime.
Tia Dudukovich (Port Matilda, Pa./State College Area) set up both Red Flash (1-5) goals but it was not enough against the Raiders (3-5), who scored in the final six minute to force overtime and won the game 5:24 into extra time.
Jill DiCola (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) started in net for the Flash and posted six saves.
Saint Francis fell behind in the first half after Eliana Brown netted a rebound goal at the 16:01 mark of the first half. Colgate took its 1-0 advantage into the half but Flash rallied back in the second stanza led by their co-captain.
Jocelyn Scillia (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) tied the game at the 40:01 mark off an assist from Dudukovich. The contest did not stay tied long as Saint Francis pulled in front with a goal from
Carissa Makea (Auckland, New Zealand/Rosehill College). Colgate tied the game with a goal from Peyton Hawkins at the 63:45 mark. The Raiders generated solid pressure in the overtime and DiCola was able to make to saves but the third shot on goal of the OT found its way into the goal. Halle Biggar scored at the 75:24 mark to give Colgate the win.
Saint Francis returns to action tomorrow in Ithaca, N.Y. with a non-conference contest against Cornell.
