LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis University field hockey team earned its first win ever against Georgetown Sunday, 3-2.
Kellie Mason (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) scored once and assisted on another goal as the Red Flash (2-8) tallied three goals for the second time this season at home against the Hoyas (2-6). SFU controlled the pace early and never trailed, while also holding off a late Georgetown rally attempt.

Autumn Pellman (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood) continued her impressive freshman campaign with her sixth goal of the season at the 19:22 mark to give SFU the early lead.
Tia Dudukovich (Port Matilda, Pa./State College Area) started the scoring play off a penalty corner and earned her team leading fifth assist.
SFU carried the one goal advantage into the half but Georgetown came out fast in the second half and evened the score with a goal from Brooke Simone at the 38:36 mark. Saint Francis did not lose heart and retook the lead 10 minutes later on a goal from
Jocelyn Scillia (Lititz, Pa./Warwick).
Kellie Mason (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) started the play with a shot on goal which Hoya goalkeeper Briana Pereira stopped but left a long rebound. Mason controlled the rebound and cross the ball back door to Scillia, who bumped it into the net.
Mason made it a two goal advantage at the 52:52 mark with long shot from just inside the arc which got pass Pereira. Georgetown attempted a late rally as Catherine Shugrue found the net with less than two minutes left but it was not enough.
The win for the Flash is the first in school history against Georgetown and in the previous five meeting SFU tallied just three goals a mark it matched Sunday.
Saint Francis returns to action Wednesday at DeGol Field against Lock Haven at 6 p.m.
