Late second half tally sinks Flash at Robert Morris

BOX SCORE MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (Oct. 14, 2012) – A late second half goal was the difference maker in a 1-0 loss on the road for the Saint Francis U men's soccer team Sunday afternoon to Robert Morris.

“Today was tough because we weren't at our best and we made a mistake that led to their goal,” head coach Michael Casper said. “We have to be smarter with where we play and more ruthless in our attack and if we were today's result could have been different. We have to pick ourselves up and work to be better next weekend.”

With the one goal loss the Red Flash fall to 5-6-2 overall on the year and 3-2 in Northeast Conference play while the Colonials earned their first league win. The lone goal of the contest came in the 75th minute when RMU's Bruce Cullen took a through ball and shot the ball inside the near post past starting SFU goalkeeper Daniel Valcicak (Herndon, Va./Gonzaga College).

Robert Morris and Saint Francis were tightly matched in terms of shots and offensive chances in the match as the Colonials held the slight upper edge in that category 14-13. The Flash made good work of those shots as well, forcing the RMU keeper to make nine critical saves on the day to keep his squad in the game. SFU was heavily outnumbered though in corner kicks as RMU managed 10 to SFU's three.

Both Nick Kolarac (Pittsburgh, Pa./West Allegheny) and Alex Hainault (Montreal, Quebec/Westwood) registered three shots a piece Sunday afternoon to lead the team, all of which were fired on target.

Saint Francis will stay on the road this upcoming weekend for two matches beginning first Friday afternoon at Fairleigh Dickinson.
