WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (March 25, 2012) – Playing in its first competition in the 2012 spring season, the Saint Francis University men's golf team opened the C&F Bank Invitational in 27
th place in the 29-team field.
The Red Flash carded a first round 313 in the three-day event. SFU finished round one ahead of Washington and Lee and Hampton. Missouri leads the team competition with a day one total score of 282. Emilio Cuartero of Missouri fired an opening round 66 to lead all individuals.
Jeff Chastel (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) finished as the top scorer for the Flash on day one with a 76 and is in a tie for 80
th in the 150-player field.
James Ferguson (Altoona, Pa./Tyrone) ended his opening round one shot behind Chastel with a 77 and sits in a tie for 94
th. Also in close range with a 78 on day one is
Jeremy Foran (London, Ontario/Fanshawe College) who is currently in a tie for 106
th.
Kevin Fawcett (London, Ontario, Canada/Oakridge Secondary)'s 82 and
Ryan Coccagna (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area)'s 83 have them in ties for 132
nd and 137th, respectively.
Saint Francis continues play in the C&F Bank Invitational Monday morning at the Kingsmill River Course.
