DAVIDSON, N.C. (March 7, 2012)
– The Saint Francis University lacrosse team dropped a non-conference decision to Davidson on Wednesday afternoon, 13-9, at Richardson Stadium.  The setback dropped the Red Flash to 1-2 as it prepares for Sunday's home opener against Saint Joseph's.  The Wildcats improved to 2-3 on the young season.

Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) and Kate Simmons (Delran, N.J./Delran) paced SFU with two goals apiece.  Five other Flash players were tied with one score.  Davidson's Mary Leonard fired a game-best three goals.

After Simmons gave Saint Francis a brief 1-0 lead five minutes into the contest, Leonard got the Wildcats rolling scoring the first two goals of a 6-0 run. She scored less than a minute later after Simmons and then gave Davidson the lead for good at 2-1 with 23:12 on the clock.

The Flash entered the locker room down 6-3, but Samantha Barton made it a two-goal game with the first tally of the second period.

The Wildcats and Red Flash traded a pair of goals before a 5-to-1 Davidson run put the game out of reach.  SFU's Catherine Jenkins (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and Rachel Larson (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) scored the last two goals of the game to set the final score.

Davidson's Jessica Melby earned the win with a 10-save outing.  SFU goalie Caitlin Flynn made nine stops in the contest.

The Wildcats out-shot the Flash by a slim 28-to-27 margin.  Ground balls were even at 11 apiece.
