Lacrosse falls short in road finale at Central Conn. State

BOX SCORE NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (April 15, 2012) – Central Conn. State erased an early one-goal deficit and led by as many as eight down the stretch as it downed Saint Francis U., 16-10, in its 2012 road finale.  The Blue Devils improved to 6-0 at home while the Red Flash saw a frustrating five-game slide continue.

CCSU was led by Ashley Perkoski, who racked up seven points on four goals and three assists, while Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) paced the Flash with three goals and an assist.

Conwell's assist came three minutes in when Casey Burk (Moorestown, N.J./Delran) drew the game's first blood.  The Flash lead lasted all of two-and-a-half minutes when Perkoski evened things up to spark a four-goal Blue Devil run.

Down, 8-3, at the 11:22 mark, Catherine Helming (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) began a three-goal Saint Francis run that also included tallies by Kate Simmons (Delran, N.J./Delran) and Conwell to close the gap to, 8-5, in just over a minute's time.

Perkoski scored in the waning moments of the period to re-up the CCSU edge and set the, 9-5, halftime score.  The Blue Devils scored the first four goals of the second half – including Amanda Toke's eventual game-winner 7:15 in – to put the game out of reach.

Saint Francis returns home on Friday when it welcomes LIU Brooklyn for a 4 p.m. game.
