BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (April 22, 2012) – The Saint Francis U. women's lacrosse team started and finished well enough, but Wagner controlled the middle portion of the game to deal the Red Flash a season-ending, 13-9, setback.
Casey Burk (Moorestown, N.J./Delran) and
Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) staked the Flash to an early two-goal lead but the Seahawks scored 10 of the game's next 11 goals to go up, 11-3, with over 20 minutes to go in regulation. Saint Francis rebounded to score six of the final eight goals of the game, which proved to be a case of too little, too late.
Playing in her final collegiate game,
Catherine Helming (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) led the way for the SFU offense, scoring five goals. Conwell chipped in a pair of scores to cap the single most productive season in program history. The junior attack racked up 73 points on 49 goals and 24 assists (also school single-season records).
Kara Ledgerwood (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) accumulated three points on a goal and two assists.
Lauren Petrik and Carolyn Clark each tallied four goals for the Seahawks (7-10; 2-7 NEC), who outshot SFU 30-to-21 on the afternoon.
The Red Flash wraps up its season with a 3-14 mark, including a 1-8 record in Northeast Conference play.
