Rehoboth Beach Invite ends with third place showing

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (Sept. 24, 2012) – For the fourth time this fall season, the Saint Francis University men's golf team earned a top-five finish, wrapping up the two-round Rehoboth Beach Invitational in third place.
 
Tournament host Pennsylvania took home the team title by a commanding 21 shots over second place finisher Monmouth. The Red Flash shot identical rounds of 300 for a total team score of 600, to finish one stroke behind the runner-up Hawks. Mount St. Mary's and McDaniel rounded out the remaining top-five squads.
 
In the 58-player field, Vincent Adams (Boisbriand, Quebec/John Abbot College) picked up a top-10 finish for the Flash, carding a two-round 149 (73-76). Sophomore Kevin Fawcett (London, Ontario, Canada/Oakridge Secondary) recorded the best round of the tournament for SFU, a one-over par 72 in the second round to give him an 11th place showing. Freshman Chris Stricek (Binghamton, N.Y./Windsor) continued his strong rookie campaign thus far, placing in the top-15 by shooting a 152 (73-79). Jeff Chastel (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) concluded his tournament run one spot behind Stricek in a tie for 16th after he recorded a 153 (79-74) total score. The final Flash golfer participating in Delaware was sophomore James Ferguson (Altoona, Pa./Tyrone) who earned a tie for the 22nd spot.

PJ Fielding of Penn captured the individual crown by a seven shot margin after firing a five-under 137 (68-69).
 
Saint Francis is back in action next when they make the short drive down to Moon Twp., Pa. for the Holiday Inn Colonial Golf Classic hosted by Robert Morris beginning Oct. 8.
