SFU Drops Season Opener at Duquesne

BOX SCORE PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Feb. 15, 2013) – The Saint Francis U women's lacrosse team fell in the season opener, 20-6, at Duquesne on Friday.

The Dukes (1-0) jumped out to a 10-0 lead at Rooney Field and the Red Flash (0-1) were not able to orchestrate a comeback. Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron) broke the drought with 9:08 to play in the first half, the freshman finished with two goals in the contest.

Saint Francis netted four goals in the second half including three from Olivia Pittman (Annapolis, Md./Saint Mary's) to complete a hat trick effort.

Rebecca Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) also contributed with a goal late in the first half. Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) saw 46 minutes of action in her debut between the pipes, the freshman registered six saves.

Saint Francis returns to action next Saturday (Feb. 23) as they take on Binghamton in the home opener at DeGol Field at 1 p.m.
