Slow Start Troubles Flash Against Bryant

BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (March 24, 2013) – The Saint Francis U women's lacrosse team lost its second Northeast Conference match-up, as they fell to Bryant, 10-4, on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Flash (3-6, 0-2) only scored one goal in the first half and struggled to mount a comeback against the Bulldogs (5-3, 2-0) in half two.

Bryant got on the scoreboard first with just under 24 minutes to play in the first period. The Bulldogs scored three more unanswered goals before SFU responded. Olivia Pittman (Annapolis, Md./Saint Mary's) scored her team leading 15th goal at the 3:21 mark.

Bryant scored two more quick goals before the halftime break.

The Bulldogs scored twice to start the second half and then Rebecca Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) started her scoring spree of the afternoon with a nice feed from Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron). Meyer scored her second and third goals in the last five minutes of the contest to complete a hat trick effort.

Olivia Pittman (Annapolis, Md./Saint Mary's) led the Flash with seven shots, while Jordan Porretto (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) had a team-high five draw controls.

Kimberly Peterson earned the start in net and had 11 saves in the game.

Saint Francis will hit the road to face Wagner at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
