DeVries and Rex combine for one hitter; team splits final day

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 9, 2013) - On its final day at the Rebel Games, the Saint Francis U softball team split a pair of games, falling 2-0 to Creighton in the morning game and no-hitting Detroit Mercy for a 6-0 win in game two.

With the split, SFU finishes its run at the Rebel Games with a 5-3 record.

In game one with Creighton (9-6) neither team could find the scoresheet until the final inning. With Creighton serving as the visiting team, they plated both of their runs in the top of the seventh inning. With two outs in the frame an RBI double and single allowed both runs to score successfully and gave them the victory.

Taylor Parsons (Bellefonte, Pa./Bald Eagle) was the only Flash (11-7) to collect multiple hits, going 2-for-3 in the game. Ketarah DeVries (Forreston, Ill./Forreston) (6-4) surrendered the two earned runs in the game and was dealt the loss. She threw all seven innings, allowed seven hits and struck out two.

DeVries earned the win though in the next game versus Detroit Mercy (2-12) as she and Chelsea Rex (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) combined to one-hit the Titans. More information on this game will be posted when it becomes available.

Saint Francis returns to the diamond next Friday March 15 for a doubleheader at Delaware State beginning at 2 p.m.
