BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (April 12, 2013) – The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team lost to Keystone State rival, Robert Morris, 21-10, on Senior Day.
The Red Flash (4-10, 1-6) were led by
Rachel Larson (Corning, N.Y./Corning East), who netted four goals in the contest. Jessica Karwacki posted 13 draw controls in the match for the Colonials (8-6, 4-3).
Robert Morris jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half, before SFU netted its first goal at the 16:25 mark from
Olivia Pittman (Annapolis, Md./Saint Mary's). The Colonials scored four more unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead. Larson then scored her first at the 6:25 mark of the first half. The Colonials took an 11-3 lead into the halftime break.
RMU struck first in the second half and then Larson put home her second tally of the afternoon to make it 13-4 in favor of the Colonials.
Christina Fini (Huntington, N.Y./Smithtown East) and Larson scored within a minute of each other to put SFU within seven with 22 minutes to play. RMU extended its lead to as much as 12 with just under seven minutes to play.
Olivia Pittman (Annapolis, Md./Saint Mary's) finished with three goals, while
Rebecca Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and
Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron) each added one goal.
Lindsay Ingram (Stewartstown, Pa./York Catholic) also posted an assist in the game.
Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) posted eight saves in the loss for SFU.
Saint Francis will hit the road for a non-conference match-up with Bucknell on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
