EMMITTSBURG, Md. (April 16, 2013) – The Saint Francis U men's golf team earned a sixth place finish Tuesday following the third round of the Mount St. Mary's Invitational.
The Red Flash collected a three-round total team score of 923 (306-304-313) to finish middle of the pack in the 12-team field. Binghamton (291-284-302-877) claimed the team title with a three-shot win over Bowling Green State (290-291-299-880).
Jeff Chastel (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) just missed a top-10 finish, tying for 11th place in the 63-player field. He recorded three consecutive rounds in the 70's for a 225 (74-75-76) total. Freshman
Chris Stricek (Binghamton, N.Y./Windsor) collected a 231 (76-75-80) for his tournament efforts, placing him in a tie for 24th place.
James Ferguson (Altoona, Pa./Tyrone) tied for 36th with rounds of 75-78-82 for a three-round total of 235. Finishing one-stroke behind Ferguson with a 236 (85-76-75) is
Shane Crampton (London, Ontario, Canada/Saunders Secondary).
Kevin Fawcett (London, Ontario, Canada/Oakridge Secondary) rounds out the Flash golfers in the tournament with sole possession of 44th and a 241 (81-78-82) total score.
Wes Gates of Bowling Green State earned individual medalist honors as he finished with a three-under par 213 (67-71-75).
Saint Francis returns to the course for its final regular season tune up before the NEC Championship April 20-21 at the Navy Spring Invitational.
