Flash Lose in Season Finale at Quinnipiac

BOX SCORE HAMDEN, Conn. (April 21, 2013) – The Saint Francis U women's lacrosse team wrapped up its 12th varsity season with a loss at Quinnipiac, 20-8.

The Red Flash (4-13, 1-8) attempted to erase a 16-3 deficit at halftime and outscored the Bobcats (7-9, 5-4) 5-4 in the second period, but the comeback effort fell short.

Quinnipiac scored first to open the contest, but a quick goal from Lindsay Ingram (Stewartstown, Pa./York Catholic) tied the game at one. The Bobcats then scored four straight goals to take a 5-1 lead. Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron) stopped Quinnipiac run with a goal at the 22:15 mark.

The Bobcats went on to score eight unanswered goals to take a 13-2 lead. Ingram then put home her second tally of the afternoon after a pass from Christina Fini (Huntington, N.Y./Smithtown East) to make it 13-3 in favor of QU. The Bobcats scored three more quick goals in the last five minutes of the half to take a 16-3 lead into halftime.

Quinnipiac scored early in the second half, before Saint Francis fired off four straight goals. Fini started the scoring spree for the Flash at the 20:16 mark and Megan Ross (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) scored just over a minute later. Rebecca Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and Olivia Pittman (Annapolis, Md./Saint Mary's) each scored to put SFU closer with 10 minutes to play.

The Bobcats scored twice more down the stretch and Ingram tallied her third goal of the afternoon for the Red Flash.

Lindsay Ingram (Stewartstown, Pa./York Catholic) finished with a hat trick for SFU and Christina Fini (Huntington, N.Y./Smithtown East) added two points with a goal and an assist. Senior Emily Patterson (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) notched three draw controls in her final game for Saint Francis.

The Red Flash were given four yellow cards in the game, compared to the Bobcats one.

Saint Francis concludes its season with a four wins, the most since the 2011 season.
