BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (April 5, 2013) – The Saint Francis U women's lacrosse team lost to Northeast Conference foe, Mount St. Mary's, 11-5, on Friday afternoon.
The Red Flash (4-8, 1-4) held an early lead in the first half, but could not stop the Mountaineers (4-8, 3-1) from orchestrating a comeback.
Rebecca Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) scored first within two minutes to put SFU on the board early.
Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron) put home another tally five minutes later to give the Flash a 2-0 advantage. The Mount scored a goal at the 20 minute mark to narrow the margin to one.
Olivia Pittman (Annapolis, Md./Saint Mary's) gave SFU its third goal of the game with 16:53 to play in the first half. The Mountaineers scored five unanswered goals and took a 6-3 lead into the halftime break.
Mount St. Mary's struck first in the second half to take a 7-3 lead. Meyer then scored her second goal of the afternoon to give SFU its first tally of the second period.
The Mountaineers scored two quick goals with under 10 minutes to play to take a 9-4 lead. Schaaf tallied her second goal of the day at the five minute mark, before MSM closed out the match with two more goals.
Lindsay Ingram (Stewartstown, Pa./York Catholic) added three ground balls and three caused turnovers and
Christina Fini (Huntington, N.Y./Smithtown East) posted three draw controls to go along with three caused turnovers.
Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) took the loss in net, but recorded a career-high nine saves.
Saint Francis will face Monmouth on Sunday, opening draw is scheduled for Noon.
