BOX SCORE ITHACA, N.Y. (Sept. 13, 2013) – The Saint Francis University field hockey team jumped out to a 1-0 lead against Cornell, but surrendered four second-half goals to fall, 4-1, on Friday afternoon.
Selena Adamshick (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) got the Red Flash (1-1) on the scoreboard early in the first half, after a tip-in off a penalty corner shot from
Autumn Pellman (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood).
SFU held the Big Red (1-2) scoreless in the first half, largely in part to senior goalkeeper
Jill DiCola (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive), as she posted eight of her 12 saves in the first period.
Cornell came out of the halftime break firing as they netted four consecutive goals on 14 shots in the second period.
Saint Francis was outshot 26-7 during the game, and the Flash drew just six penalty corners to the Big Red's 13.
Carissa Makea (Auckland, New Zealand/Rosehill College) led SFU in shots with three.
Jocelyn Scillia (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) also added a shot on goal.
Saint Francis continues its road-trip to Colgate on Sunday for a Noon match-up.
