BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 22, 2013) – Navy took an early lead in the fourth minute and never looked back as the Midshipmen (8-2-0) surged past the Saint Francis U women's soccer team, 5-0, at DeGol Field on Sunday.
The Red Flash (3-6-1) revisited its script from Friday's setback against Towson by dominating in the first half before struggling to maintain momentum in the second. Despite falling behind 2-0 before the intermission, SFU racked up 11 shots and a 3-to-0 edge in corner kicks.
Navy, on the other hand, performed more efficiently than most government entities by cashing in on two of its three first period shots on goal. The Mids took 11 shots on the day, with eight of their five shots on goal finding the back of the net.
Tesa McKibben (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) led Saint Francis by firing four of her team's 14 shots. The Flash did not post a second-half shot on goal, finishing the day with three.
Saint Francis has now lost back-to-back home games for the first time since 2007 when Navy and Fairleigh Dickinson took consecutive contests at the Stokes Soccerplex.
The Red Flash will visit Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. to wrap up its non-conference schedule next Sunday. The Golden Grizzlies are currently 4-4-1 after a 3-0 home win over IPFW on Saturday. In the interim, Oakland visits Green Bay on Friday.
