Women's soccer wraps up NEC tournament berth

BOX SCORE TEANECK, N.J. – The Saint Francis U women's soccer team clinched its fifth straight Northeast Conference postseason berth Sunday, but fell in its season finale at Fairleigh Dickinson, 4-1.

With the win, the Knights locked up an NEC regular season crown and will host next weekend's championship tournament.  By virtue of Wagner's 1-0 win over Sacred Heart, the Flash slipped into the field as the #4 seed.

Fairleigh Dickinson and SFU will rematch on Friday at University Stadium.

On Sunday, a goal by Rachel Hoekstra 45 seconds into the match gave FDU the early lead, but the game remained close until the second half.

After clinging to a 1-0 lead in the first half, the Knights were able to produce three goals in the second half to seal the victory.

Saint Francis senior Jessica Andrew (Doncaster, South Yorkshire UK/Balby Carr) broke the shutout in the 78th minute on a free kick.  The marker was the first of her career.

Saint Francis goalkeeper Romina Kunze (Frankfurt, Germany/Carl-von-Weinberg-Schule) made seven saves, while FDU's Felicia Burr made three.

The Frankies' and Knights' NEC Semifinal matchup is slated for 11 a.m.
