FULL PREGAME NOTES (pdf)LORETTO, Pa. (March 28, 2014) - The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team will have a one-game stop in Sweet Loretto as it welcomes Davidson for a Noon match-up. This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two schools, the Wildcats hold the 3-0 advantage. However, this is the first meeting in the series, where Saint Francis is the home team.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATSDavidson is sporting a 2-5 record so far in 2014, with its wins coming against Elon and Kennesaw State, both of which are common opponents with the Red Flash this season. SFU fell to Elon in its season opener, 16-7, and will play Kennesaw State on Sunday.
The Wildcats have played some tough opponents in its non-conference play, including two top-25 teams in Navy and Duke. Junior attacker Emily Cooke leads the Wildcats with 19 total points (4 goals, 19 assists). Sophomore midfielder Emma Sissman leads the team with 15 goals.
CONWELL NAMED NEC PLAYER OF THE WEEKSaint Francis University women's lacrosse graduate student attacker
Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) earned Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors on March 10th. Conwell has started off the 2014 season strong after missing the 2013 campaign with an injury. The Roxbury, N.J. native totaled eight goals and seven assists during the week and helped lead SFU in its first win of the season.
Against Presbyterian, Conwell posted three goals and three assists. The Flash registered the most shots in a game since 2012 and won 17-14. This is Conwell's first NEC Player of the Week award; during her freshman season in 2010 she earned two NEC Rookie of the Week awards and a spot on the All-NEC Rookie Team.
LAST TIME OUT...Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) scored four goals and became the all-time leader in Saint Francis women's lacrosse program history as she helped lead SFU to an 18-6 victory over Delaware State last Saturday afternoon. Conwell now has 139 career goals and broke
Kate Simmons (Delran, N.J./Delran) (2009-12) record of 136. The Red Flash (2-4) tied a program-best with 12 goals in the first half of play. Conwell finished with seven total points as the graduate student also added three assists against the Hornets (0-9).
Sophomore
Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron) posted three goals and two assists in the win, while
Rebecca Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) netted a season-high three goals.
Heather McKee (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright Bel Air) earned her first collegiate win in net, the freshman posted four saves in the first half.
Kimberly Gronski (Corning, N.Y./Corning East High) led SFU with three draw controls and
Rachel Wallon (Waxhaw, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) posted three ground balls.
