BOX SCORE SMITHFIELD, R.I. (April 13, 2014) – The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team fell on the road at Bryant, 20-7, on Sunday afternoon.
Rachel Larson (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) led the Red Flash (4-8, 1-3) with four goals. 10 different players scored in the game for the Northeast Conference leading Bulldogs (10-3, 4-0).
Bryant jumped out to a four-goal lead over the first seven minutes of play. Larson then scored her first of the afternoon off a free position attempt to put SFU on the board. The Bulldogs followed with two more goals to take a 6-1 lead with 16 minutes to play.
Casey Burk (Moorestown, N.J./Delran) scored the second goal of the day for Saint Francis,
Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron) tallied the assist and SFU was back within four.
Bryant would go on to score six more goals to total 12 in the opening period compared to just two more for SFU before the halftime break.
Holly Lawrence (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and Larson each scored just over a minute apart during the span. SFU trailed 12-4 at halftime.
The Bulldogs scored three goals to open the second period. It was Larson who got the scoring started for SFU in the second half as well as she tallied one with 23:30 to play.
Bryant scored three more consecutive goals, before
Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) scored her first of the day with just over seven minutes to go. Larson scored her fourth with 3:03 remaining.
Heather McKee (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright Bel Air) tallied seven saves in the first half.
Mackenzie Mignery (Galloway, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) led SFU with four draw controls, while
Casey Burk (Moorestown, N.J./Delran) added a team-high four ground balls.
Saint Francis returns home on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. non-conference match-up with Bucknell.
