SFU Falls in Non-Conference Match-Up Against Bucknell

BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (April 15, 2014) – The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team fell in a non-conference match-up with Bucknell, 13-8, on Tuesday evening.
 
Rachel Larson (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) led the Red Flash (4-9) with three goals, while Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) added two. The Bison (4-11) fired 28 total shots and caused 17 turnovers in the game.
 
Bucknell scored the first two goals of the game, before Larson put SFU on the board at the 20:40 mark. The Bison scored again four minutes later to take a 3-1 lead.
 
Saint Francis scored at the 12:26 mark as Conwell converted on a free position attempt. Casey Burk (Moorestown, N.J./Delran) tied the game up for SFU with another free position shot two minutes later.
 
Bucknell scored four goals over the final 10 minutes of the half and took a 7-3 halftime lead.
 
The Bison scored the first goal of the second half and held a five-goal advantage before SFU made a comeback. The Flash scored four straight to get back within one with two coming from Larson, one from Conwell, and one from Christina Fini (Huntington, N.Y./Smithtown East).
 
Bucknell then scored five unanswered goals to lead 13-7, before SFU put up one more tally as Holly Lawrence (Damascus, Md./Damascus) scored with 1:20 to play.
 
Kimberly Gronski (Corning, N.Y./Corning East High) led SFU with two caused turnovers, while Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) posted a team-high two draw controls. Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) registered eight saves in net.
 
Saint Francis plays again at home on Friday against Keystone State rival Robert Morris, the game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
