SFU Falls on the Road at Mount St. Mary’s

BOX SCORE EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 25, 2014) – The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team held a halftime lead, but fell to Mount St. Mary's, 7-6, on Friday evening.

The Red Flash (4-11, 1-5) led 6-2 at halftime, but was held scoreless in the second half. The Mountaineers (3-12, 2-4) scored five unanswered goals in the second period to earn the victory.

Saint Francis scored the first five goals of the contest, Lindsay Ingram (Stewartstown, Pa./York Catholic) started the offense with a tally at the 26:53 mark. Casey Burk (Moorestown, N.J./Delran) scored three minutes later off a pass from Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury).

Rachel Larson (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) then scored three straight goals, two coming off free position attempts and SFU led 5-0 with 17:33 to play in the frame.

The Mount fired back-to-back goals, and then Conwell scored with 26 seconds remaining to give the Flash the four goal advantage at the break.

Mount St. Mary's turned up its defensive effort in the second half, the Red Flash only registered five shots in the period.

22 minutes were played where SFU still led by the 6-2 score until Mount St. Mary's fired off five consecutive goals down the stretch. The eventual game winner was scored with 1:53 remaining.

Heather McKee (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright Bel Air) posted six saves in net, the freshman earned her third start of the season. Christina Fini (Huntington, N.Y./Smithtown East) led SFU in ground balls with six. Rachel Wallon (Waxhaw, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) added a team-high four caused turnovers.

Saint Francis will wrap up its season on Sunday at home as it hosts Wagner at 1 p.m. for senior day.
