BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (April 27, 2014) – The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team lost to Wagner, 16-10, in its final game of the 2014 season.
The Red Flash (4-12, 1-6) trailed by as much as 12, but erased most of the Seahawks (10-6, 6-1) lead as SFU scored seven goals over the final 14 minutes of play.
Rachel Larson (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) and
Casey Burk (Moorestown, N.J./Delran) each scored three goals for Saint Francis, while
Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) added a goal and two assists. Those three seniors along with
Kerry Boyle (Marietta, N.Y./Marcellus) closed out their SFU lacrosse careers on Sunday.
Wagner scored the first three goals of the game before Burk got SFU on the board at the 19:29 mark of the opening period. The Seahawks extended its lead to 12-3 at the halftime break, Larson and
Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron) scored the other two goals for the Red Flash in the frame.
The Seahawks scored the first three goals of the second half to take its largest lead of the game. Saint Francis then went on its late run. Larson, Conwell, and Burk each scored to get SFU back within nine.
SFU scored four more late goals over the final three minutes to get within six at the end.
Christina Fini (Huntington, N.Y./Smithtown East) and
Lindsay Ingram (Stewartstown, Pa./York Catholic) also scored during the span.
Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) picked up eight saves in the second half.
Mackenzie Mignery (Galloway, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) and
Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) each posted three draw controls.
