LORETTO, Pa. (April 3, 2014) - The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team will open up its 2014 Northeast Conference schedule on Friday afternoon as it hosts LIU Brooklyn at 3 p.m. The Red Flash has won the past two meetings against the Blackbirds, including a 19-12 victory last season in Brooklyn.
SCOUTING THE BLACKBIRDSLIU Brooklyn is on a two-game winning streak after picking up victories over Howard and Manhattan. The Blackbirds are fourth in the NEC in goals per game, just behind the Red Flash at 10.33 per contest. LIU also trails SFU by just one spot in points per game, they are also fourth at 14.22.
Freshman attacker Danita Stroup leads the team in points with 29, she has amassed 18 goals and 11 assists in nine games. Freshman midfielder Jenn Peters leads the team with 20 goals.
CONWELL NAMED NEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK AGAINSaint Francis University women's lacrosse graduate student attacker
Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) earned Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, it was announced on Monday.
Conwell continued her strong fifth-year campaign as the gradu- ate student racked up 11 points in two games this weekend. The Roxbury, N.J. native ranks eighth in the country in points per game as she has totaled 40 in just eight games.
She led the way with three goals and two assists against Davidson on Saturday in a game that Saint Francis nearly won at home.
With a short turnaround on Sunday, SFU traveled to Virginia for a neutral site game against Kennesaw State. It was a historic day for Conwell as she posted four goals and two assists and became the all-time leader in points in Saint Francis program history, passing
Kate Simmons (Delran, N.J./Delran) record of 196 all-time points.
Saint Francis won the game 13-6, picking up its third win of the 2014 campaign. This is Conwell's second NEC Player of the Week award of her career; during her freshman year in 2010 she earned two NEC Rookie of the Week awards and a spot on the All-NEC Rookie Team.

Rachel Larson (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) each posted four goals to lead the Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team to a 13-6 win over Kennesaw State on Sunday afternoon.
The four goals and two assists for Conwell made her the all-time leader in points in program history for the Red Flash (3-5). SFU put up 10 second half goals on the Owls (0-8).
Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) earned the win in net for SFU, the sophomore registered eight saves for the second straight game.
SFU won the battle in shots against Kennesaw State, 26-19.
Rachel Larson (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) picked up a team-high three draw controls in the win.
