LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis head softball coach
Jennifer Patrick-Swift announced Wednesday the team's fall schedule. The Red Flash will play eight games over three weekends beginning Sept. 27.
Â
On that day, the Flash will travel to Bucknell to face the Bison at noon with a matchup with Bloomsburg following at 2:00 p.m. Last year, Bucknell finished 10-8 in the Patriot League while also winning two games in the conference tournament. Bloomsburg was 28-19 overall and 18-10 in the PSAC. The Huskies also qualified for the NCAA Div. II Regionals.
Â
"We're really happy with the overall makeup of our fall schedule," Patrick-Swift said. "The caliber of teams we're going to play will be great preparation for our spring regular season schedule."
Â
The Red Flash will travel to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers on Oct. 5. The teams were scheduled to play in a doubleheader last season, but rain washed that away. The Panthers finished their inaugural ACC season with a 15-29 overall record and a 6-18 mark in conference play.
Â
SFU heads to Penn State on Oct. 11 after the Flash defeated the Nittany Lions for the third time in school history last April.
Alexis Bower (Cogan Station, Pa./Williamsport Area) pitched all eight innings in the extra-inning win while also hitting the go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning of the Flash's 4-2 victory.
Â
The Flash rounds out the fall schedule the following day with a home doubleheader against Alderson Broaddus at 1:00 p.m. The Battlers were 12-5 in the Div. II GMAC conference prior to being eliminated in the conference tournament.
Â
The team's regular season schedule will be released later in the fall.
