No Mountain Too High for Red Flash

BOX SCORE MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Sept. 7, 2014) -- On a sunny afternoon at Dick Dlesk Stadium the Saint Francis U men's soccer program defeated the West Virginia University Mountaineers 1-0.

"I am really proud of the guys for the way they battled today," said head coach Michael Casper. "West Virginia is an excellent side and really kept the ball well at times. I thought the guys were really committed to the way we wanted to play and earned themselves an excellent result."

53 minutes into the contest Saint Francis midfielder Pablo Medina (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academies) whipped in an enticing ball in which Bryan Causey (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem) used pure athleticism to win and head towards goal, where Andrew Hajec (Corry, Pa./Corry)'s was waiting to score. Causey and Medina were credited with an assist on Hajec's game-winning goal.

West Virginia held a nine to four advantage in first half shots, while both teams had three corner kicks.

Medina and Causey both recorded two shots a piece in the contest.

Andrew Garcia (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) earned his second shutout of the 2014 season, making six saves during the game. West Virginia fired 16 shots at the Red Flash defense, only six managed to be on target to which Garcia stood strong.

"If we can continue to work that hard with the quality, I believe good things will happen," stated coach Casper.

Midfielder Ryan Cain for the Mountaineer's registered a game-high seven shots in the loss.

Saint Francis picked up four yellow cards in the win.
