ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Jan. 21, 2015) – The Red Flash women's tennis team opened the season with a tough assignment, taking on Navy Saturday at the Tose Family Tennis Center in the Brigade Sports Complex.  The Mids carried the day, 6-1.
 
Shivani Patel (Leicestershire, England/Repton School) furnished the lone team point for the Frankies, by picking up a win in No. 1 singles in three sets.  SFU's Rafaela Panizza (Jundiai, Brazil) and Alex Sachs (Parkland, Fla./Stoneman Douglas), despite coming up short, pushed their singles draws to the limit before eventually falling in the Nos. 2 & 3 singles competitions in a third set.
 
"Navy is a very talented and well coached team," said Flash coach Rob Castille.  "I was pleased with the way our top two doubles teams played as well as our top three singles. But we need to compete and play better at the bottom half of our lineup as well as at #3 doubles against all teams, but especially against a team like Navy. We will address these things in practice this week and will be better for our next match."
 
Saint Francis travels to beautiful Fort Wayne, Ind. next weekend as it takes on IPFW and Chicago State on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
