Football Hosts Sacred Heart on Homecoming Saturday

LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis football team welcomes Sacred Heart on Saturday on Homecoming.  Kickoff is at Noon at DeGol Field, with a live stream on NEC Front Row.  The Red Flash and Pioneers both enter a key NEC matchup with a 4-3 overall record and a 1-1 conference mark.
 
Saint Francis fell 26-24 at Bryant last Saturday.  The Red Flash scored 21 unanswered points in the second half, but could not convert on a two-point conversion attempt to tie the game.  Khairi Dickson (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries for his 13th career 100-yard game.  He added 67 receiving yards on four receptions, including a key 42-yard reception on SFU's final touchdown drive.  Dickson had touchdown runs of 16 and five yards out of the wildcat formation. 
 
Zack Drayer (Hershey, Pa./Hershey ) had 259 passing yards and a touchdown on 22 completions.  Senior Daniel Adams (Washington, D.C./Northwestern) had another strong receiving performance, with eight catches for 78 yards and a touchdown, after having four catches for 97 yards vs. Wagner.  Terell Smith (West Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) had seven catches for 60 yards at Bryant, while Anthony Abeid (Youngstown, Ohio/Youngstown Christian) added 57 yards on two receptions.  Lance Geesey (Harrisburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) connected on a 32-yard field goal attempt.
 
Defensively, Solomon Leaeno (Kapolei, Hawaii/James Campbell) led the team with a season-high seven tackles, with 1.5 for loss.  Lorenzo Jerome (Sunrise, Fla./J.P. Taravella), Max Ma'afala-Maiava (Pearl City, Hawaii/Aiea ) and Semo Sila (Honolulu, Hawaii /Farrington) each had six stops, while Delondo Boyd (Indian Head, Md./Henry E. Lackey) recorded his team-leading third interception of the season.
 
The Red Flash ranks first in the conference and 27th in the nation in scoring, averaging 32.7 points per game.  SFU is the only team in the NCAA that is perfect in the Red Zone at this point in the season, converting on all 26 trips, including 18 touchdowns. 
 
On the season, Drayer has completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 1,143 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions.  Smith leads the team with 37 catches for 590 yards and four touchdowns, ranking 12th in the nation in yards per game.  Adams has 274 yards and a score on 20 catches, while Abeid, battling through an injury for the early part of the season, has six receptions for 94 yards.
 
Dickson is back to form after his second consecutive game with over 100 yards rushing.  On the season, Dickson has 533 yards and seven touchdowns on 96 carries, ranking 27th in the nation in yards per contest.  Marcus Bagley (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) has 390 yards and two touchdowns on 74 carries this season.
 
Defensively, the Red Flash is sixth in the FCS in passing defense, allowing only 154.3 yards per game, and 17th in total defense, giving up 304.7 yards per game. 
 
Sila, a senior, leads the defense with 46 tackles, including four for loss while Lorenzo Jerome (Sunrise, Fla./J.P. Taravella) has 41 tackles, with five for loss, two sacks, three pass breakups and two interceptions. 
 
Six Red Flash have at least four tackles for loss on the season.  Jerome leads with five, followed by freshman Louie Gartner (Paramus, N.J./Paramus Catholic) with 4.5, and Solomon Leaeno (Kapolei, Hawaii/James Campbell), Wesley Nagaseu (Waipahu, Hawaii/Waipahu), Sila and Erik Walker (Clairton, Pa. /Clairton) each have four. 
 
Geesey has hit eight of nine field goal attempts, with a long of 44.  Freshman Andrew Zecca (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) has taken over the punting duties, averaging 37.6 yards per punt with a long of 54. Jerome is second in the FCS in kick return yards, averaging 33.9 yards per return, and is one of only five FCS players with at least two touchdowns on the season.
