ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. (Feb. 4, 2015) – With some strong contributions from the top of its lineup, the Saint Francis U men's tennis team pulled out its second win of the season, 4-3, at St. Bonaventure Saturday.

Chris Jimenez (Bayside, N.Y./St. Francis Preparatory) put the finishing touches on the victory with a tightly contested three-set win over Andrew Blair out of the No. 2 position. For Jimenez, the singles victory sewed up a solid day personally – the senior also contributed to a 6-4 win in doubles play while partnering with Washi Gervais (Longueuil, Quebec/College Stanislas).

The Red Flash tandem of Lawson Barter (Chicago, Ill./Loyola) and Plamen Avuski (Plovdiv, Bulgaria /Math High School ) also picked up a Devils win, this one of the 6- 2 variety in the No. 2 spot.

"I was very pleased with the way the team competed today," said Flash coach Rob Castille.  "St. Bonaventure is always a very solid team that competes hard. This week in practice, I really tried to emphasize the importance of maintaining a positive attitude throughout the match, giving a full effort, and to not focus so much on the result. It was great to see the team apply this mentality against the Bonnie and we were able to come away with the win."

Taking care of business in singles play were Avuski and Eli Cerdan (Bloomfield, N.J. /Saint Mary High School) who each went the distance with two more three set victories.

Saint Francis is back on the road next weekend for a pair of matches. On Friday, the Flash travels to Youngstown State for a 7 p.m. contest, while Sundays affair is slated for 10 a.m. at Lehigh.
