MONROEVILLE, Pa. – The Saint Francis U men's tennis team snapped a two-match slide over the weekend when it turned back Wright State, 4-3, at The Club Sport and Health in Monroeville.
The Red Flash won the doubles point with a pair of lopsided victories. Â
Washi Gervais (Longueuil, Quebec/College Stanislas) and
Rodrigo Tico (Guadalajara, Mexico/Colegio de Bachilleres) took No. 1 doubles with a 6-1 mark, while Dylan Foo-Kune and
Lawson Barter (Chicago, Ill./Loyola) sealed the deal with a 6-3 decision at the No. 3 spot.
Gervais, Tico and Foo-Kune swept the Nos. 1 through 3 singles competitions to set SFU's point total and clinch the victory.
"This was a great team win against a very solid opponent," said head coach Rob Castile. "Getting the doubles point today proved to be the difference in the match. We had worked hard on doubles the previous week so it was nice to see the guys play well and be rewarded. I also think this was one of our better matches in how we competed. From almost everyone, the energy was good and the attitudes were positive. But we still know we need to be better and will have to be when we play Wagner this Saturday."
The Frankies host Wagner at 9:30 a.m. at the Ebensburg Tennis Center.
