LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis University Aquatics Department is holding two lifeguarding classes and a lifeguard re-certification class at the Stokes Natatorium this spring.  The classes are open to the public.Registration for the courses begins on Monday, March 6.
 
The cost of the re-certification class is $140 per participant.  The lifeguarding class costs $335 per participant. 

Prerequisites to participate in the class are below.  For any questions, call 814-505-2605.
 
The prerequisites for participation in the lifeguarding class are listed below.  Please DO NOT sign up for the lifeguarding class if you do not meet each of the prerequisite for participation.
          -must be 15 years old 
          -must be able to swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing 
          -tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
          -Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds. 
                    o Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. 
                    o Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
                    o Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding   the object. 
                    o Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

April 29 - 12-5 p.m.
 
Lifeguard Class 2 - $335
May 15 - 7-10:30 p.m.
May 17 - 7-10:30 p.m.
May 19 - 7-10:30 p.m.
May 22 - 7-10:30 p.m.
May 24 - 7-10:30 p.m.
May 26 - 7-10:30 p.m.
May 29 - 7-10:30 p.m.
