WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (April 18, 2015) - After securing the best seed in program history at No. 3, the Saint Francis U women's tennis team fell against No. 2 Bryant, 4-1, in the NEC Semifinals on Saturday morning.

It is the second straight year the Red Flash advanced to the semifinals, last season was the first time in program history. SFU finishes the 2015 campaign with a 6-11 overall record after the loss.

"Although it is upsetting to lose today, I could not be more pleased with how the women played and competed. We started off very slowly in doubles which was unfortunate to see. I think the team was nervous and Bryant took advantage of that and jumped all over us. But the women responded well in singles and pushed Bryant in every match. Credit goes to the Bulldogs who are a very strong and deep team. But this is something we can definitely take a lot of positives away from and build off of," said SFU head coach Rob Castille.

Bryant took control early in the doubles matches, Lucy Jasso (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Instituto Potosino) and Brittini Jentz (Plano, Texas/Ursuline Academy of Dallas) were battling, but their match did not need to be finished as the Bulldogs won at No. 1 and No. 2. Jentz won at No. 4 singles for Saint Francis, which earned them a point.

Alex Sachs (Parkland, Fla./Stoneman Douglas) and Dani Gryckiewicz (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Academy) each fought hard into a third and deciding set, but each match was stopped before it could finish.

"This is the second straight year we have made the semi-finals and that has never been done before here at SFU. We are proud of that, but now we are hungry to take that next step. I'm confident the women who are returning will work hard in the off season and with the addition of some strong freshmen coming in, I am already looking forward to the fall," Castille stated.
