BALTIMORE, Md- The Red Flash field hockey team hits the road this weekend to take on the Towson Tigers on Friday night at 6 p.m. and the Georgetown Hoyas on Sunday at 1 p.m.
About the FlashSaint Francis comes into the weekend at 0-2 on the season, dropping a 2-0 decision to Ohio at home last Friday and a 4-1 match to William and Mary on Sunday in a match played at Lock Haven. Freshman
Irene Fritschy (Zwolle, The Netherlands) scored for the Red Flash and leads the team in shots and shots on goal through the first two matches.
Samantha Zeiders (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) has made eight saves through the two matches this season.
About the TigersTowson comes into the match at 0-2 on the season as well, falling to Temple and Saint Joseph's. The Red Flash and Tigers met last season in Loretto with Saint Francis winning 5-1, they have won five of six matches in the match-up's history. Megan Boyle has been stout in net so far this season, leading the Colonial Athletic Conference in saves (18) and saves per game (9).
About the Hoyas Georgetown comes into the game at 0-2 on the season as well, dropping a pair of 1-0 decisions to Davidson and Rider. The two teams have not met up since 2013 when the Red Flash knocked off the Hoyas 3-2 in overtime. Teams have outshot Georgetown 30-14 through two matches, goalie Rachel Skonecki has made 15 saves and owns an impressive .881 save percentage.
