LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis softball will be playing on a new turf surface this season as the renovation on the playing surface has been completed.  Red Flash Softball Field was converted from a grass outfield/dirt infield to a fully turfed field.  In this project new six-foot fencing, along with backstop padding and netting was completed in early October.
 
"We are extremely grateful for the university's commitment to our softball program, and the new surface and fencing is a tangible testament to that," said Head Coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift. "Every year we countdown the number of days until our season opener.  This year, we're excited to say we have an additional countdown for the first game on our new field.   On behalf of the past, current, and future Red Flash softball players and our fans, I would like to say 'thank you' to everyone who had a hand in this project."
 
The Red Flash, coming off a 31-19 season in 2015, opens the 2016 campaign on February 12-14 at the UNC Wilmington Tournament. 
 
Saint Francis will make its home debut on March 12-13 vs. Cornell.
