LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis men's soccer hosts two big matches this weekend as St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU Brooklyn come in for conference matches.

SFBK and LIU are the last two NEC champions and both are picked along with Flash to make the NEC tournament.

ABOUT THE FLASH
SFU picked up a hard-earned conference win last weekend, downing Sacred Heart 1-0 on the road last weekend. Jack Webber (Bernville, Pa./Tulpehocken) scored the match's lone tally, knocking in a rebound in the 48th minute. The win made SFU 8-4 on the season after the 2-0 win over Howard earlier last week. In that match, Francis de Vries (Christchurch, New Zealand/Cashmere) became the 11th different player to score for SFU this season. The victories kept SFU at number five in the latest Northeast Regional rankings, put out weekly by the National Soccer Coaches' Association.

ABOUT THE TERRIERS
SFBK comes into the match at 6-4-2 on the season but they are off to a 2-0 start in NEC play and are ranked ninth in the Northeast Region. The terriers flexed their defensive muscles in shutting out Sacred Heart (2-0) on Friday and FDU (3-0) on Sunday.  Salvatore Barone and Yussuf Olajide lead SFBK with three goals each. Defensively, Seth Erdman has gotten nine starts in net.He holds a 1.13 goals against average with a .750 save percentage. SFU will be looking to even the score against the Terriers, SFBK hung a 5-0 loss on the Flash last year at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Historically, SFU trails the all-time series 15-13.

ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS
LIU comes to town after playing Robert Morris on Friday. The Blackbirds are 1-0-1 in NEC play after drawing Bryant 1-1 and erupting for seven goals in a 7-2 win over Central Connecticut last weekend. The defending NEC champs are ranked fourth in the latest Northeast Region poll.  LIU has a high-powered offense with four players already in double digits in points (Hestnes, Hansen, Charles, and Guscott). Those four are also the top-four point scorers in the NEC Hestnes leading everyone with 15 points and five goals. Defensively, redshirt senior Logan Keys is back in goal for LIU.
The reigning NEC tourney MVP has made 11 starts in net with a 1.71 goals against average and a .694 save percentage. SFU will also be looking to even the score against the Blackbirds who won the NEC tourney over SFU last year in penalty kicks and won last year's regular-season match-up 1-0 in overtime. All-time, SFU holds the series edge 16-12-2.

THINK PINK
On Sunday, the team will be sporting "Think Pink" t-shirts and pink armbands. The team sold shirts and will be collecting donations on Sunday as they do their part for October's Breast Cancer Awareness month. All proceeds will be going to the Susan Komen Foundation for cancer research.
