LORETTO, PA-Â Saint Francis women's soccer closes out the regular season this weekend hosting CCSU on Friday and Wagner on Sunday for a pair of noon starts.Â
ABOUT THE FLASH
SFU comes into the weekend at 4-2 in NEC play, a half game ahead of Bryant and a game ahead of RMU for the fourth spot in the NEC. SFU has the head-to-head tiebreaker over both teams. A win locks up a spot in the NEC playoffs for the Flash as they are jockeying for position with SHU and FDU who both sit a point ahead of the Red Flash. The Flash dropped a heartbreaker in double overtime against Sacred Heart on Friday 3-2, but rebounded with a critical 1-0 win over Bryant on Sunday.
Gabi Morales (Madrid, Spain/Colegio La Inmaculada-Marillac) scored both goals against SHU and
Sara Suler (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) netted the game-winner on Sunday. Both lead the Flash and are tied for fourth in the NEC with 12 points. In goal, sophomore
Julia Hernan (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) has helped anchor a solid back line. In NEC play, Hernan and the Red Flash defense own a .93 goals against average while Hernan has a .838 NEC save percentage and a .767 one overall.Â
Prior to Sunday's match, the team will honor seniors
Casey Gallaher (Sidman, Pa./Forest Hills) and
Abbey Collins (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) in a pre-game cermemony. Sunday' match can be seen on NEC Front Row.Â
ABOUT CCSU
CCSU comes into the weekend at 5-1 in the NEC, atop the standings by two points. Carla Jackson will be the one to watch offensively as she leads an offense that has seven different goal scorers this season. Jackson leads the way with four goals. Defensively, the Blue Devils have earned a shutout in each of their five NEC wins as goalie Nicki Turley owns a .33 GAA in conference play with a .889 save percentage.Â
ABOUT WAGNER
Wagner sits at 2-4 in the NEC and needs to win out and get help to make the tournament. They are paced offensively by Nikki Fritz (five goals) and Sydney McNutt (four). Wagner has seen three different players see time in net over the season. Collectively, they hold a 2.42 goals against average and a .655 save percentage.Â
