LORETTO, Pa. – In this week's edition of the Field Hockey Notebook, freshmen
Taylor Nesmith (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and
Livvy Webb (Easton, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) will be highlighted.
Â
Some of the most memorable moments this season for Nesmith have been traveling to a wide variety of states to play Atlantic-10 conference opponents. Â She enjoys seeing what the different cities and states have to offer.
Â
Webb earned her first collegiate start in a 4-1 win against Missouri State on August 29. This everlasting moment has been her favorite field hockey memory thus far.
Â
"I was nervous but once the game started, my teammates helped me settle down. It was fun getting in there and just do what I normally do," said Webb.
Â
Nesmith and Webb both chose Saint Francis because it offered a "small school" atmosphere. Saint Francis athletics is a cohesive group that gives each athlete the opportunity to truly support on another; this is a feature that the athletes enjoy. Â
Â
As a Division I student-athlete, one receives guidance from all different angles. For Webb, some of the most valuable advice has come from her older sister, Abby, who played field hockey at Saint Francis from 2011-14. She has helped Webb on the field, but also off, with skills such as time management and studying.
Â
Taylor, on the other hand, has benefited most from her teammates and peers. Â
Â
"We definitely help each other out with questions. We try to stick together a lot. Everybody helps each other out," said Webb.
Â
Saint Francis takes on App State on Sunday at noon.
