Seneca Named College Sports Madness NEC Softball Player of the Week

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis softball sophomore Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum) was named NEC Player of the Week by College Sports Madness, announced on Tuesday.  Seneca was the top force in the Red Flash's offense this weekend at the Seahawk Softball Bash, hosted by UNC Wilmington, and helped the team get off to a 3-2 start.

Seneca started all five games this weekend at shortstop, batting .474 (9-for-19) with three doubles and two home runs, while driving in nine runs and scoring five.  She also stole a base.

In one weekend, Seneca already matched her home run total for the 2015 season.  She's also over halfway to her 2015 RBI total of 14.

In the 11-0 season-opening win over UNC Wilmington, Seneca went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer, and a career-high five RBI.  She also scored two runs.

Seneca only went 1-for-5 in the 8-5 win over Army, but scored a pair of runs.

In the 4-3 loss against Eastern Kentucky, Seneca launched a home run over the center field wall.

Seneca went 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the sixth inning to seal the mercy-rule, 10-2, win over Army.  She also stole a base in that game.

In Sunday's game against Eastern Kentucky, Seneca had two hits in three at-bats, including a single to center that drove in two runs.

The Red Flash returns to action this weekend with six games scheduled at the East Carolina Pirate Clash in Greenville, N.C.  Saint Francis opens the tournament on Friday with a 10 a.m. contest against UMass.  Later that day, SFU will take on Bucknell at 12:30 p.m.
